Hello from Holland!

Tonight’s entry will be brief as we are operating on less than 2 hours of sleep in the past 36 hours.

We left Friday at 10 am and had a smooth bus ride to Logan Airport – “Miracle” was the movie of choice for the trip. It was a good thing that we left early as the lines were long from the backlog of stranded passengers from the Volcanic Ash cloud. Despite all of the concerns early in the week, our travel went off splendidly! The only hitch we had was when the notorious McCarthy clan was frisked simultaneously while trying to pass through security at Heathrow Airport.

Upon arriving in Amsterdam, we were greeted by our host, Jos. The weather was beautiful and ideal for outdoor activities. Our first activity was to watch the Ajax Premier team train in preparation for their Dutch League championship game on Sunday. Following training, we found a cafĂ© that was able to serve lunch for forty in downtown Amsterdam – the food and rest provided a much needed lift to the road-weary travelers. After lunch, we enjoyed the beautiful city of Amsterdam; the canals, the architecture, the Ann Frank house (from the outside) and, lastly, the Red Light District (educational).

After checking into the Hostel (StayOkay Amsterdam -picture below), we went for a short run, had dinner, got ice cream and are going to bed. See you tomorrow!

Next blog will be up on Monday as we are at the Ajax vs Feynoord match tomorrow evening.
